White speckles are due to white walls of passenger car tires, while other speckles are as a result of reground rubber tiles and rolls. Since all raw materials are recycled in nature and are not filtered prior to production, the rolls will exhibit the natural appearance of their ingredients.

Styrene-Butadiene rubber (SBR) belongs to the family of synthetic rubbers that is derived from Styrene and Butadiene. The SBR exceeds all synthetic rubbers in consumption as it is very widely used in the automobile industry for the manufacture of tyres because of its excellent abrasion resistance and ageing stability. The SBR rubber was initially marketed by the name of BuNa-S because of its content concentration of Butadiene (Bu), Sodium (Na) and Styrene(S).

FKM rubber sheet

Fluoro Elastomer rubber or FKM is based on hexa-fluoropropylene vinyl-idene fluoride. The polymer has high resistance to heat with a temperature range of -40° C to + 250° C. It has also possesses a good flame resistance and is usually self-extinguishing. FKM’s have excellent resistance to oxygen, ozone and natural weathering and also have outstanding resistance to compression, especially at elevated temperatures. Its resistance to most solvents and chemicals give long service life as it has excellent resistance against hydrocarbons, aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated chemicals and resistance to acids and alkalis including oxidants. However, they have poor performance against ethers, ketones and bases.

EPDM rubber sheeting is the most commonly used material when exposed to the elements. EPDM rubber sheet has excellent resistance to weathering, ageing, ozone, water and UV. Neoprene rubber sheeting (CR) is a synthetic material that offers excellent resistance to ageing, ozone and weathering and is commonly used in external applications for gaskets, linings, weather strips and sleeves. It provides moderate resistance to animal and vegetable oils and inorganic salts, but is not suitable for use with aromatic hydrocarbons and ketones.

There are many different types of synthetic rubber Sheets that are available on the market. Each elastomer has its own unique traits that make them unique, and Rubber-Cal makes it a point to stock a variety of synthetic elastomers that have the largest market demand. Unlike organic rubber products, synthetic rubber sheet does not have a carbon-to-carbon backbone that can leave it susceptible to ozone, UV, heat and other ageing factors. Synthetic rubber sheet also generally comes with good levels of chemical and temperature resistance, with specific degrees varying according to the type of elastomer.

It is a tough, non-marking, organic material that resists alkalis, salts, mild acids and other types of chemicals. It is a common tire, gasket and mounting material.

Butyl Rubber Sheeting is a high quality rubber with high temperature resistance. Rubber made from butyl is a blend of polymers mixed with a little bit of isoprene. Butyl Rubber is a very good general purpose rubber used for many applications such as pond linings. Butyl rubber sheeting has good chemical resistance properties and therefore is widely used in many industrial applications. Butyl Rubber’s most unique property is its impermeability to air, being 70% better than most other rubbers hence its use for tyre tubes and tubeless tyre inner liners. Butyl Rubber Sheeting is used in many other applications, being highly impermeable to gases, ozone, ultra violet light, chemicals and weathering.

Hypalon rubber sheet

Hypalon is very resistant to attack by oxygen and ozone, and properly compounded products show excellent weathering resistance. High tensile strength is characteristic of hypalon vulcanizates, which do not need the use of highly reinforcing fillers for good tensile properties. Hypalon rubber sheeting, also referred to as chlorosulfonated polyethylene, has excellent resistance to chemicals, ozone, weather, acids, heat and abrasion.

Nitrile rubber sheet

Nitrile rubber or acrylonitrile butadiene rubber is a co-polymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile. It has good general resistance to oil along with good mechanical properties, especially tensile strength, flexing, compression set and impermeability to gases. It has moderate aging properties and good adhesion to metal. Its recommended operating temperature range is -30° C to + 120° C. It also displays a good resistance to inorganic chemical products except antioxidant agents and chlorine. It gives satisfactory resistance to general hydrocarbons. Due to its polar nature, we do not recommend its use with polar liquids like ketones, ethers and amines.

Silicone rubber sheet

Silicone rubber is physiologically inert, thus making it the preferred choice of medical, pharmaceutical and food processing industries. Silicone have comparatively low mechanical properties, tensile strength, elongation and tear strength, however they keep constant even at high temperatures but should not be used with high- pressure steam. Its resistance to oil and hydrocarbon products is fairly limited and similar to that of Chloroprene rubbers. Reasonable resistance to a whole range of general chemical products, but acids, alkalis, esters and kerosene should be avoided.
